So, last weekend we finished packing out of our apartment and got down to my parent's house late friday night (after mom made two trips with stuff! thanks Mom!). Over the weekend we packed up our van, Jared built a platform in the back, with our futon mattress on top, we organized our food and pots and pans, got a cooking stove (almost got one of those cool new "bio-Lite" stoves, but we decided it was small and needed a lot of tending with small sticks... it would be awesome for backpacking, but since we are in our car, we really didn't need the ultra light stove. Their mission is SO cool though -check it out!!) And we had our last farewell service at South End Neighborhood Church. We finished packing up late Sunday night and Monday morning, and rolled out of the driveway around 1pm, headed to Nana's 88th birthday party in Rhinebeck NY.
What a fun first stop on our adventure (with a post office stop, a Home depot and REI return, and some chick-fil-a on the way) seeing so many wonderful family members. We have been here for a few days, visiting, resting, working on some projects. We have slept in our van for 3 nights now, and its super comfortable! We installed some screens in the windows, so the bugs don't get in during the night. The mosquitos are pretty ruthless around here!
Next we are heading to NH, then to Maine! Thanks for your prayers! much love!

a poem by Sarah, written in Rhinebeck NY:
To rest
To breath
To soak in the familiar
my life has changed in a huge way- but all I can see is today
The familiar sun's warmth
The breeze through the trees
The flag waving gently and the grass warm and soft
The blue of the sky
And the puff of the clouds.
I remember the life I had and am leaving
And I look forward to what is next
The unknown adventure of tomorrow.
What will it bring?
where will we go?
Im not sure
but today we rest.
